Experience & Quality

Dr. Cavanaugh is a fellowship trained corneal specialist. He trained at the Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore for advanced corneal surgical training. He has dedicated his life’s work specifically towards treatment of corneal diseases. Because most refractive surgery procedures involve surgery on the cornea, it is best to have a true corneal specialist involved in your care. Experience matters when it comes to LASIK. Dr. Cavanaugh has performed laser refractive procedures since 1990 and has done over 15,000 LASIK surgeries. He has extensive experience with all approved laser platforms as well as other types of refractive procedures such as cataract surgery and refractive lens implants. Dr. Cavanaugh’s reputation among his patients and peers is second to none. He was recently honored as one of the top two doctors by a poll of 500 physicians in Kansas City as one of Kansas City’s "Super Doctors of 2009" in KC Magazine.

Our Laser Surgery Suite - The Only One of its Kind in the Kansas City Area

We are proud to offer our patients a state-of-the-art laser suite that is absolutely unique to our practice. Dr. Timothy Cavanaugh customized this suite to allow him and his staff to achieve superior surgical results for his patients. It is the only suite in the Kansas City area to have been built from the ground up specifically for the purpose of performing laser eye surgery. We have complete control over the environment of the suite, ensuring the ideal temperature and humidity for optimum laser performance and surgical outcomes. It is equipped with a humidifier, dehumidifier, and bacteria filtration system. There is no safer, more ideal atmosphere in which to perform laser eye surgery.

In addition to cataract surgery, the ASC is used for eyelid surgery, glaucoma surgery, corneal transplants and various other eye and lid surgeries. Along with the ASC, Cavanaugh Eye Center also has an in house laser suite for vision correction. The Center uses the most advanced Bausch & Lomb Zyoptix laser. Bausch & Lomb is the worldwide leader in design and manufacturing of vision correction lasers. The laser corrects for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
